Pokémon GO Candy Calculator
Estimate how many Pokémon you can evolve from a candy stash and the XP produced under this calculator's evolution-session assumptions.
Evolution inputs
Whole-number digits only; enter the in-game Candy cost for one evolution.
Use the candy balance available for the species or evolution family you are planning.
Choose Yes to apply the calculator's 2× XP multiplier.
Live results
Pokémons evolved
12
Experience gained
12,000 XP
Model rule: full evolutions = floor(candy available ÷ candy required). XP uses 500 per evolution, doubled when Lucky egg? is Yes. Event bonuses, special evolution tasks, item requirements, trade discounts, and current in-game XP changes are outside this calculation.
With 150 candies and a 12-candy evolution cost, you can complete 12 evolutions for 12,000 XP with the Lucky Egg multiplier.
How to use this Pokémon GO Candy calculator
What this calculator does
This calculator turns a single species-family Candy balance into two planning figures: Pokémons evolved and Experience gained. It follows the same simple session model as the reference calculator: divide the Candy you have by the Candy required for one evolution, keep only complete evolutions, then multiply that count by 500 XP or by 1,000 XP when a Lucky Egg is selected. The official Pokémon GO Help Center explains that different Pokémon species can require different Candy amounts to evolve. This tool is therefore a planning estimate, not a complete eligibility checker: it does not verify whether you own enough unevolved Pokémon, whether an evolution item or task is required, whether a trade removes the Candy cost, or whether a live event changes XP rewards.
When to use it
Use the calculator when you are comparing low- and high-Candy evolutions, preparing a batch of evolutions before activating a Lucky Egg, checking whether a Candy farming session has reached your target, or estimating the XP represented by the Candy already in your inventory. Because the model is intentionally narrow, check the Pokémon's detail screen in the game before acting on any result that may involve a special evolution condition.
How to calculate
- The calculator opens with a ready-to-use demonstration: 12 candies required, 150 candies available, and Lucky egg? = Yes. The results and a validated example XLSX are available immediately.
- Replace Candy required to evolve with the whole-number Candy cost shown for the evolution you are planning.
- Replace Candy you have with your current whole-number Candy balance for that family.
- Set Lucky egg? to Yes only when you want this model to apply a 2× XP multiplier. Official support describes Lucky Eggs as items that double XP for a limited period.
- Read Pokémons evolved first, then Experience gained. Both update live. Select Download Excel to export the current validated inputs and results. Reset clears the demonstration data and results; Download Excel is then disabled until you enter a complete valid state again.
Input guide
Candy required to evolve is required and accepts whole-number digits from 1 to 1,000,000, measured in candies per evolution. A realistic example is 12. Increasing this value reduces or leaves unchanged the number of complete evolutions available from the same stash. Do not enter commas, decimals, scientific notation, a unit suffix, or a negative number; and remember that some Pokémon may also need items, tasks, walking, or trade conditions that this field cannot represent.
Candy you have is required and accepts whole-number digits from 0 to 1,000,000,000 candies. The startup example is 150. More Candy can only increase or leave unchanged the number of affordable complete evolutions. Enter the balance for the relevant Pokémon family rather than combining unrelated Candy types. Pokémon GO's glossary notes that Candy is used for evolution and strengthening Pokémon, and identifies catching, hatching, and transferring among Candy sources; see the official Pokémon GO glossary for the underlying terminology.
Lucky egg? is required and offers Yes or No. Yes applies a 2× multiplier to this calculator's XP estimate; No leaves the base estimate unchanged. It does not change Candy consumption or the number of evolutions. A common interpretation mistake is to treat the multiplier as extending the number of evolutions you can afford – it affects only the modeled XP.
Output guide
Pokémons evolved is an integer count of complete evolutions supported by the entered Candy balance under the Candy-only model. It is calculated with the floor function, so partial Candy progress never becomes a fractional evolution. Zero means the current Candy balance is below the entered per-evolution cost. A larger value means the stash covers more full evolution costs, but it is still an estimate of affordability rather than proof that every evolution is otherwise eligible.
Experience gained is the modeled XP total. It is driven by the evolution count and the Lucky Egg selection. Under this calculator's reference-compatible assumptions, each evolution contributes 500 XP without a Lucky Egg or 1,000 XP with one. A zero value follows from zero affordable evolutions. Treat this as a legacy planning estimate: Pokémon GO mechanics and event bonuses can change, so the live game is the authority for current XP awards.
The three header pills mirror the current assumptions: evolution cost, Candy stash, and XP multiplier. They are summaries of the same validated inputs, not additional calculations.
Worked example
With the startup values, the calculator evaluates floor(150 ÷ 12) = 12 complete evolutions. Because Lucky egg? = Yes, it uses 1,000 XP per evolution in this model. The displayed XP is therefore 12 × 1,000 = 12,000 XP. The initial workbook records the same 12-candy cost, 150-candy balance, Yes selection, 12 evolutions, and 12,000 XP, so the screen and spreadsheet describe the same scenario.

Candy can also be acquired through actions outside this calculator. For example, official support confirms that transferring a Pokémon awards Candy. Use those game mechanics to change your real Candy balance, then update Candy you have here. For special evolutions, consult the in-game evolution panel because it reflects current requirements more directly than a generic Candy-only model.
How the math works
The core calculation is intentionally discrete. If C is your Candy balance and R is the Candy requirement per evolution, the evolution count is floor(C ÷ R). Flooring matters because an evolution is all-or-nothing: a quotient of 12.5 still supports only 12 complete Candy payments. The XP estimate then multiplies that integer count by the model's base 500 XP and by either 1 or 2 depending on the Lucky Egg selection.
This approach deliberately does not recycle Candy, assume transfer gains, add Pinap Berry catches, or simulate future Buddy walking. Those are separate gameplay actions. Keeping them outside the formula makes the result auditable: every displayed number follows directly from the three visible controls.
Interpretation and limitations
The most important limitation is that Candy is not always the only gate to evolution. Official guidance notes that certain Pokémon can require evolution items, tasks, trade conditions, Lure Modules, or Buddy walking. A high Pokémons evolved value therefore means “Candy-funded evolutions under this simplified model,” not “guaranteed evolutions available right now.”
The XP figure is similarly assumption-sensitive. This calculator preserves the reference page's stated 500-XP base and its Lucky Egg doubling rule so the numerical behavior is reproducible. The current game may award different XP because of product updates or events. When precision matters for a live session, compare the model with the current in-game reward display, then use this calculator mainly for quick Candy-capacity planning.
