How to use the Witcher Monster Slayer leveling calculator
What this calculator does
This planner estimates how much historical The Witcher: Monster Slayer experience you still need, how many average monster defeats that represents, and how many calendar days your chosen pace would take. It uses a launch-era level progression table capped at level 40 and converts your own hunting pace into a practical timeline. It is a planning reconstruction rather than an active game service: CD PROJEKT formally phased out the mobile title and disabled player access on June 30, 2023. The calculator therefore does not connect to an account, predict monster availability, reproduce quests, or claim that every battle awards the same XP.
When to use it
Use it to reconstruct an old leveling goal, compare a casual schedule with a heavier grind, estimate how much an XP-boosting item would have shortened the climb, or explore why the final levels felt disproportionately long. The underlying game loop centered on gaining experience through fights and quests; contemporary guides also documented bonuses for strong combat execution. For historical context, see CD PROJEKT's original Monster Slayer announcement.
How to calculate
- The calculator opens with a ready-to-use demonstration: current level 21, no XP yet in that level, target level 40, 40 monster defeats per day, 150 base XP per monster, and a 10% XP bonus. The example results and Excel workbook are available immediately.
- Replace Current level and XP earned in current level with your historical progress, then choose a Target level.
- Set Monsters defeated per day to a sustainable daily average and set Average base XP per monster to your blended pre-bonus XP. Then enter any combined percentage in XP bonus.
- Read Estimated time to target, XP remaining, Estimated monster kills, Effective XP per monster, and Daily XP pace. The level table shows where the grind accumulates.
- Use Download Excel to export the exact current inputs, outputs, and level-by-level plan as a validated .xlsx workbook. Reset deliberately clears the demonstration data; export stays disabled until you enter a complete valid plan again.
Input guide
- Current level is a required whole number from 1 through 40. Example: 21. Raising it normally reduces the remaining XP because earlier level thresholds are treated as complete. Do not enter a fractional level.
- XP earned in current level is required non-negative integer XP already accumulated toward the next level. Example: 0. It must stay below the XP threshold for that current level; otherwise the level and XP pair are inconsistent.
- Target level is a required whole number from your current level through 40. Example: 40. A higher target adds later thresholds, which become particularly expensive near the cap.
- Monsters defeated per day is a required positive whole-number pace. Example: 40 kills/day. A higher value increases daily XP linearly and shortens the calendar estimate. Avoid using the best day you ever had if you want a realistic long-run plan.
- Average base XP per monster is a required positive number in XP before percentage bonuses. Example: 150 XP. Sources from the game's launch period describe 100 XP as a common base award, with more available depending on rarity and circumstances. Use a blended average when your hunting mix varied.
- XP bonus is a required percentage from 0% to 200%. Example: 10%. The official launch promotion described the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword as granting 10% more XP for each monster slain; see the official Monster Slayer launch newsletter. Enter the combined bonus you want to model, not 1.10.
Output guide
Estimated time to target is the remaining XP divided by your calculated daily XP, rounded up to a whole calendar day; the supporting line also shows approximate weeks. XP remaining is an exact table-based identity after subtracting current-level progress. Estimated monster kills divides the same remaining XP by effective XP per monster and rounds up, so it is an estimate rather than a promise about encounter mix. Effective XP per monster equals base XP multiplied by one plus the bonus percentage. Daily XP pace multiplies that effective per-kill amount by daily defeats. The header pills labeled Target, Daily pace, and Remaining repeat the selected target level, current daily XP pace, and XP remaining for quick scanning. The three summary values – Levels remaining, XP per week, and XP bonus gain per day – respectively show the level-count gap, seven days of current pace, and the incremental daily XP attributable only to the entered bonus. In the table, Level step names each transition, XP for step is the XP still required for that transition, Cumulative XP is total remaining XP through that row, and Cumulative days is the rounded-up elapsed time at the current pace.
Worked example
With the startup values, the effective reward is 150 × (1 + 10/100) = 165 XP per monster. At 40 defeats each day, that becomes 6,600 XP per day. From the start of level 21 to level 40, this historical progression table contains 3,480,000 XP. Dividing 3,480,000 by 6,600 gives about 527.27 days, so the calendar estimate rounds up to 528 days. The equivalent kill estimate is 3,480,000 ÷ 165 = about 21,090.91, rounded up to 21,091 monsters. If you increase the XP bonus or daily defeats, both time and kill-count implications update from the same canonical model.

Historical sources consistently describe XP as coming from monster battles and missions, with bonuses available for performance and equipment. Gamepressure's experience-level guide explains the role of battles and missions, while CD PROJEKT's project phase-out notice confirms that the live game is no longer available. Because the service is closed, treat this calculator as an archival leveling planner rather than a live progression tracker.
Model assumptions and interpretation
The level curve is a historical reconstruction built around launch-era progression reports, including the documented 125,000 XP requirement for level 30 to 31 and the widely reported 700,000 XP requirement for level 39 to 40. The final stretch is intentionally steep: contemporary player analysis noted that reaching level 30 took roughly as much total XP as the final 39-to-40 step. Your personal average XP is therefore the most important sensitivity. A single monster could award more than the simple base amount because rarity, first-time kills, perfect actions, equipment, and other gameplay effects could change XP.
This tool estimates historical game progression only. It does not represent a currently playable service, and it does not reproduce server-side data or account history.
